The existing apartment building consisted of three full floor flats over a basement. The plans shown here are for
the second floor. The original floor plan had a single bedroom, double parlor, split bath, kitchen with service porch
and pantry, and a formal dining room. This arrangement is very typical of early twentieth century design in San
Francisco.
We designed a new plan arrangement more consistent with today's needs. The double parlor became a relaxed family
room with an open kitchen and breakfast bar. The family room takes advantage of its location to overlook Fulton Street.
The old dining room was converted to a new bedroom. The old kitchen and service porch was converted to a master suite
with a connected full bath. Both new bedrooms open onto a deck giving access to the rear yard.
The old one bedroom, one bath apartment is now a legally conforming three bedroom, two and a half bath apartment.
