Barry Residence: fire and smoke damage repair

The existing kitchen was a galley-style layout.  Because of its narrow space, it was difficult for more than one person to use the kitchen at a time.  It was also lacking in sunlight due to an existing porch between the kitchen window and the outside wall.

We enlarged the kitchen by extending it approximately four feet into the existing porch area.  This gave us a larger space to plan a more functional layout.  It also put the kitchen window on the outside wall for more sunlight access.

The original kitchen was open to the living room and restricted access to the small breakfast room.  It also cut off all visual connection with the rear yard.

The existing kitchen opened to the living room.

We pulled the kitchen back to create a larger area for a dining room and also opened up the living room to a new nine foot wide french door to the back yard.
